So... it's time to start web publishing!
I've heard about ComicGenesis, DrunkDuck, ComicDish, SmackJeeves, ComicFury, or just using ComicPress on your Wordpress blog..... So many options!
Guys, help me out here, is there any comic webhosting you recommend or have heard other artist use?

ComicDish, ComicGen and The Duck (the host formerly known as Drunk Duck lol) are all pretty cool to start out with, but eventually in the long run it's better to have your own site, and keep an account open in any of the other hosts as a mirror site in case problems happen with one host or the other (your own or the free ones, problems inevitably happen lol).

Yeah, los chequié todos y la verdad es que its the way to go. Lo malo es que dependo de un programador ya que yo no se ni papa de eso. Gotta do it! Thanks Al!

I use ComicDish and I love it :D I can put any ads I want or none, and while HTML/CSS customization is difficult to get around at first, it IS easy to do once you get the hang of it. People in the forums are really nice, and willing to help too :3 It doesn't load slow for me, unlike DrunkDuck :B

I use my own hosting with a comic press installation. It's by far the most control you can get for a comic. Otherwise there are other backends that also work well, but I'm unfamiliar.

Thanks, yeah I think Comicpress is the way to go too. All the sites I visited using the free options, were slow as hell! (and ugly too :P)

I put my comic up on ComicGen and DrunkDuck.

I started out on ComicGen around 2001 I'm guessing. Their system hasn't changed much over the years. The benefit of being there is that you might end up on Keenspot which is their high end comics. Overall seems sleepy over there. I haven't used their forum in years.

I like the commenting system better on DrunkDuck. But the site overall is way slow. People can find your comic via a built in search system. Tho' I doubt much traffic comes in via that.

SmackJeeves seems like it's speedier but their UI is very busy. It also has a search system I've used to look around for comics.

I think who you go with depends on your needs. Being a rank amateur like myself. DD is nice since it has a lively community and gets my comic out there for free. Comicgen is also free.

Any pro or semi-pro will want to do their own site since at least ComicGen and DD don't allow third party advertising on the page. That is, you must not be putting up Google Ads or ProjectWonderful stuff so you can get revenue of your own from advertising. If my comic where popular I'd go that route.

I don't know anything about ComicPress or WordPress so can't say a thing there.

Good luck!

Thanks for the insight! I went to all these sites that you mentioned and what I could see is that they load very slow or the ads are kinda ugly. I'm gonna ask my husband what he thinks but I think the comicpress thingy is the way to go. Thanks!

:iconspacecaptsteve: is a pro comic artist and game designer, and makes the webcomic Blade Kitten; I can't remember the name of the site that hosts his comics, but I think you can find a link to it on his page. If not, you could ask him, and he would probably answer :) He is a really cool guy.
